"I See The Rain" (Campbell/Ford)
Released as a single 25 August 1967,
with LAUGHING MAN as the B-Side.
Like many songs from they heyday of psychedelia,
there's ambiguity around the key this was recorded in.
It sounds in Bb but clearly wasn't recorded in that key.
In the promo film, the band seem to be miming in the key of A. It
could have been recorded in A with tape speed lowered and sped
up on playback; significantly, one of the obvious influences on this track
(The Beatles' "Rain") appears to have been recorded in exacty this way.
Another possibility is it was recorded in B with the band tuned down a
half-step or the tape speed slowed a bit. The other clear influence on
the track (Hendrix) nearly always tuned down a half-step.
I suspect the guitars were played in A, whatever led to the sharper sound.
