About

This is a comprehensive reinterpretation of an old blues number, "Hello
Central (Give Me 209)" recorded
by Lightnin' Hopkins in 1965.

This version

Based on the recorded version from Robert Plant & the Band of Joy's 2010

album, this is simplified version

combining the banjo's line and guitar's rhythm.

Tuning
DADGAD (aka Celtic tuning)

Strumming

Listen to the recording from the album "Band of Joy". I personally play with

my fingers and use my finger

nails to create the desired effect. You're trying to create the rhythm of

the guitar, banjo, bass, and

percussion, so keeping the strumming hand loose will get the right feel.
Chords

A note on the chords:

Properly speaking, you're not actually playing full chords, rather, with the

opening tuning you're essentially

playing the root notes with the D drone to create the effect of suspended

chord.

Personally I like to mute the bottom D string as it creates a banjo/mandolin

type of flavor, which adds

more punch to the F hammer-on.
